She was born June 29, 1916, in Syracuse, to George and Maude (Anderson) Mellinger. On May 14, 1938, she married Maurice D. Lung, who preceded her in death in 1988.
She was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of Manchester College. She, along with her family and husband, developed the Leland Addition on Lake Wawasee. She was very involved for many years with the local American Cancer Society.
She is survived by a daughter, Diana Castell, Syracuse; and a grandson, Tom Castell, Portland, Ore. She was also preceded in death by two sisters.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in McClintic Cemetery. Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.

Dottie is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Al; four children, Kathy Cappy, Louisville; David (Haylene), Ashland, Ore.; Betsy (Mark) Phillips, Cincinnati; and Nancy (Jeff) Jensen, St. Louis; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Vogelgesang Moss.
Dottie was a stay-at-home mom before the term was invented. She loved and was gifted in that profession. She graduated from Purdue University and, before marriage, taught at Broad Ripple High School, Indianapolis. She was a gracious hostess to their extended family and worldwide friends while living in Virginia, Chicago, New Jersey, Germany, Cincinnati and at the family cottage on Lake Wawasee.
Outside the house, Dottie was a Deacon and Elder at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati; secretary and longtime discussion leader at BSF (Bible Study Fellowship); and she was a longtime tour guide and then the leader of tour guides at the Cincinnati Zoo.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Northminster Church, 703 Compton Road, Cincinnati, with calling starting at 12:30 p.m.
