Wawasee Kiwanis Club hosted the ninth annual Soup Supper Friday, Jan. 25, at the Syracuse Community Center. The benefit and proceeds were dedicated to Riley Children’s Hospital and other local youth-related charities. The soup supper raised about $1,800.
A total of 14 restaurants, businesses and nonprofit organizations entered the event — a perfect amount, according to the public, to move around and taste without feeling overwhelmed.
Roughly 250 people attended the supper and voted on their favorite soups. The restaurant category winner was Syracuse Cafe; the business division winner was Tanlines; the nonprofit organization division winner was Lakeland Youth Center; the individual category winner was Elise Gans; the overall winner was Man Cave Brewing Co.
“I just want to thank the participants this year,” commented Alexis Mast, event organizer and club president. “We’re thankful for another successful year and will use the profits to give back to the community.”
